If you missed it this morning, ABC released the first SNEAK PEEK for the Castle season six premiere! As with all Castle titles, there’s a reason for it! If you don’t want to know about the episode…please don’t watch the video or read the rest of the page. It’s all SPOILERS for the Castle September 23rd season six premiere!
OMG! Stana Katic is so good! She’s totally serious, and the lines are so “Who’s on first?” (Abbott and Costello – if you’re unfamiliar with them, click HERE for a great laugh!).
The second sneak peek came out this afternoon, let’s hope there’s been only one proposal!
Surprise is right! A boyfriend who doesn’t care about spelling, about words? How will best-selling author Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion)survive this? Not to mention Alexis Castle (Molly Quinn) is clearly a late bloomer. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) brought home her nightmare boyfriend home in high school! I don’t think Martha (Susan Sullivan) is too thrilled with this either.
The Castle season six premiere is titled “Valkyrie.” What the heck, right? I had to google it. Valkyrie come from Norse mythology, and the word itself means “Chooser of the slain.” They are described as:
female warlike virgins, who mounted upon horses and armed themselves with helmets and spears. They decided who would die in a battle. They would hover over the battlefield, like birds over their prey.

The comic book crowd will recognize the name as a Marvel comic book member of “The Defenders” called Brunnhilde. She has a similar – but made up by Marvel – Norse history. This is the character’s self description (from the Marvel wikia )
I’ve defended and avenged… fought the incredible and the mighty… and carried the worthy to their great reward… I am Valkyrior… Brunnhilde, shield maiden of Asgard… I am Valkyrie!
Does that not remind you Kate Beckett? Oh, yeah!
However, what I found most interesting is that Valkyrie is first mentioned in a 13th century book called….Poetic Edda! Every Castle fan on Twitter knows that Terri Edda is the twitter name for Terri Edda Miller – wife and muse of Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe – as well as a Castle executive producer, writer and co-writer! Really, could this title be any more perfect?
One week from today will be Monday, September 23, 2013 – a day that will go down in TV history because of the season six Castle premiere on ABC! Who’s with me?
